" We are happy to host
the 10th Annual Meeting of ASCVS and. "
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Asian Society
for Cardiovascular Surgery (ASCVS), I would like to invite
you to its 10th Annual Meeting which will be held in Jeju
Island, Korea, on April 17 through 19, 2002.
Recent advances in surgical treatments for various forms of
cardiovascular disease have made this field into one of the
most dynamic specialties in medicine. This meeting will bring
to Jeju, leading cardiovascular surgeons from various parts
of Asia as well as internationally recognized experts from
other parts of the world. The participants will present their
views on recent progress in a wide range of both clinical
and experimental studies of cardiovascular diseases and the
benefits and limitations of new technologies. I am sure we
will all benefit from their cumulative experience, in our
patient management as well as the direction of our future
investigative efforts.
Jeju had been called Tamna before Gojong (A.D. 1105) who
changed it's name to Jeju. Jeju was used as a banishment island
for political upstarts during the Joseon Dynasty. Cultural
progress and the spread of confucianism was made thanks to
these banished scholars. Today, Jeju is a beautiful semi-tropical
island off the southern tip of the Korean peninsula and a
favorite destination for the local honeymooners. The weather
is mild and there are beautiful beaches and coral blue seas,
which will make your stay on the island an unforgettable experience.
For golfers, there are splendid golf courses on the slopes
of Mt. Halla, at 1,950 meters, which is the highest mountain
in south Korea. In April, pink azaleas that cover these slopes
will render you an unforgettably beautiful sight.
We are happy to host the 10th Annual Meeting of ASCVS and
I, together with the Organizing Committee members, will do
our best to make your participation a worth your visit.
